april showers bring may flowers

it seems that spring has finally sprung. i don't want to jinx the weather gods, but the trees are blossoming, flowers blooming, and everything seems green. it is really gorgeous out. of all the seasons, spring is probably my least favorite, but i am really enjoying the weather and all the new growth going on. it's pretty cool to watch the cycle that plants go through as the seasons change.
as beautiful as it is out though, i still can't wait for summer.

life as of late

every 2nd thursday of the month, i get together with my sister and a bunch of women from her neighborhood and have a girls night. last night, we were all catching up and exchanged blog sites. so today i have been reading their blogs and it kind of inspired me to blog more. it is so much fun to read up on what is going on in everyone's life. so here is my pledge to do better.
i know i don't have any pictures up here yet, but i promise, as soon as i can my computer to get a stinkin' internet connection, i will download mass pictures for all you visual learner types out there.
so here is my life as of late...WORK. thankfully i like my job so it's not a bad thing to be there. that's actually something i'm really grateful for. granted, i have only been working for about 1 1/2 years, but i still enjoy going to work most days. talking with friends, i realized that is a rarity. so anyway, back to the point...i have been picking up extra shifts at work so i can have some extra money to a)pay off my trip to europe that i took almost a year ago, and b)buy fun things for my house and pottery barn and crate and barrel (which i heard is coming to utah, yay!), to name a couple.
the weather is finally getting warmer, which i am ecstatic about. i really do enjoy winter and all the fun activities that come with it, but after 6 months, it is nice to change it up a bit and be able to do fun "warm weather activities...like riding my new bike, hiking, camping, bonfires... for example, the other day i went on a walk with my friend and my dog, marley. i live fairly close to sugarhouse park so we decided to walk there. rather than walking the straight route there and back, we meandered up and down all these side streets, looking at houses and neighborhoods. 4 hours later...it was crazy! halfway through the walk, marley just laid down in the shade, panting, looking at me with those eyes that say, "okay, i'm done". i have never been on such a long walk, but it was absolutely incredible. the weather was beautiful and it felt so good to be outside with the sun beating down. especially after what has felt like such a looooong winter.
i look forward to many more beautiful days like that one this spring/summer. now, if i could just have the ocean nearby...maybe i need a trip home for a little visit.
